What you are collecting
Pocket Desires is a dark-fantasy gacha where you collect Desires for anime-style characters. A Desire can be an image, a video, or an interactive scene, so an unlock is content rather than a card with a stat line attached. The whole game is designed for one-handed mobile play.
Your thumb is the thrust
Interactive scenes are the point of difference. A strip along one screen edge reads your thumb's vertical position and maps it directly to the frame index of the scene: down drives in, up pulls out. You are not watching a clip and you are not tapping through it — you control every frame, at whatever pace you set.
Why it feels smooth (image sequences, not video)
HTML5 video cannot scrub frame-by-frame without stuttering, because seeking per pointer event causes decode lag and dropped frames. Instead every position is pre-rendered as 24 to 30 webp images, preloaded at scene start and drawn to a canvas. Canvas drawing is sub-millisecond with zero decode lag, which is what makes the scrub feel immediate rather than sluggish.
Arousal and unlocking positions
Scrubbing raises arousal and idling lets it decay, shown as a glow around the screen edge rather than a number — pink through red to a pulsing white as it climbs. Each scene has three positions. The second unlocks at 33 percent and the third at 66 percent, with an advance button appearing within thumb reach. Positions only move forward. Reaching 100 percent plays the climax and completes the scene.
The brushing hand question
The first time you open an interactive scene the game asks which hand you brush your teeth with. It is not a personality quiz — it works out which hand holds the phone so the scrub strip lands on the reachable edge. A right-handed brusher holds the phone in the left hand, so the strip goes on the left. It is asked once, saved, and changeable in settings.
